CLAIR BEE ON THE IMPORTANCE OF THE POSSESSION

"It is important at this time to impress upon the players the necessity for ball possession. In their eagerness to score, boys often attempt shots which are not justifiable. Wild passing and hurring to get into position should not be permitted. The proper time to check such tendencies is while the team offense is being built. Short passes should be stressed. The habit of watching a teammate's opponent when making a pass should be developed."

Clair Bee from "The Science of Coaching" (1942)
