WHAT WE TOLERATED AND WHAT WE DIDN'T

As an addition to the earlier post on coaching/teaching in a rebuilding year, we came up with the following that we posted in the locker room and gave to our team to place in their player notebooks. We wanted them to know what our expectations were in writing and that these would not change from day to day or whether it was a practice or a game. We talked to our team on a daily basis to let them know if we were pleased or displeased with success or failure in any of the below areas. More importantly, we talked to them about "why" we felt the way we did and "how" to correct it. This involved video as well. One of the things we did was show some clips of some of previous teams so that they could see what enthusiasm and competing looked like on tape.

THINGS WE WILL BE PATIENT WITH:
Learning how to play
Learning our system
Learning each other
Learning your coaches
Learning to play on this level

THINGS WE WILL NOT TOLERATE:
Lack of effort
Lack of energy
Lack of enthusiasm
Lack of intensity
Lack of passion
Lack of heart
Lack of communication
Lack of toughness
Lack of competing
Lack of concentration
