IT'S THE "EXECUTION" OF THE SYSTEM THAT COUNTS

Set offensive patterns are designed primarily to create good scoring opportunities -- the fundamental purpose of all offenses.  Methods used in accomplishing this prime objective vary widely, but an athletic axiom on which all coaches agree is "it is not the system, but the execution of the system, that counts."  Systems can succeed or fail on the execution of the minute details of the basic fundamentals.  Such details can mean the difference between a great player and an average one, or between winning and losing teams.  The first objective of the coach and players should be a complete mastery of the individual fundamentals into a team.
