JOHN BEILEIN ON SHOOTING

Came across some notes from John Beilein this morning and here are a few.  They were taken by my junior high coach Allen Osborne when Beilein was at West Virginia:

Must prepare kids so there are no pressure situations.

Have the least number of turnovers possible.

Feels that players can get arm weary if they spend too much time shooting -- compared it to a baseball pitcher.

When practicing shooting you must change the depth of shooting.

Likes to do a lot of spot shooting after weights.

Distract shooters -- hit, run at with managers during shooting drills.

Must have reward/punishment -- it is not cool to lose.

Kids get soft when coaches get soft with kids.

Zone shooting -- a lot of players have a best side.
