Former Los Angeles Dodger manager Tommy Lasorda once said to me that they key to his success was his attitude. "As a leader, the most important thing I did took place at the clubhouse door every day. Whether I was tired or discouraged or upset, I'd always put on a different face at the door. It was my upbeat, competitive, confident, enthusiastic face. If my players saw me down and depressed that would have spread all over the clubhouse. In the same way, if my players saw their manager excited and optimistic, that would infect them and help them play better."
