THE MINDSET OF GETTING FROM GOOD TO GREAT

I was going over some Coach Don Meyer notes this morning and read this one and thought it profound.  It is great insight as to how you get from good to great.  You can never be satisfied with success if you are process-oriented.  For Coach Meyer, the goal wasn't to win the next game -- it was for his team to be the best they could be.  He knew that a win could be just as detrimental to his team as a loss if it was handled correctly.  You can also see that he immediately let go of the victory and began focusing on the next part of the process -- having a good practice the next day.  This is a great mindset for champion.

"During a 10 year stretch at Lipscomb,
we averaged 33 wins per seasons.
And after each win, I couldn’t sleep
thinking 'how are we going to have
an edge in practice tomorrow.'”
